Gender Selection Conception
The waste majority of couples, when they decide they want to have a baby, they do everything possible to make sure they produce a healthy, happy baby.
However, still you can find those who want to know more about gender selection conception as their top priority is not only having a healthy baby but having a baby with a desired gender (when it is possible of course).
Sometimes, for their personal reasons, the couples desperately want to conceive a certain sex.
While the methods used in this process actually work and although the technology progress puts the scientists into the position when they significantly increase the chances of committed couples to have a baby, still there is no 100% guarantee to have a baby with the right sex.
Said so, Â lately we hear enough success stories that make it a worthwhile endeavor for couples who want more control over the sex of their babies.
Dr. Landrum B. Shettles, in the 1960′s, developed one of the most well known methods of gender selection conception.
He co-authored a book that was published in 1971 on the subject entitled “How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby“.
This book, where he had done exhaustive research into the subject of how couples might pre-determine the sex of the baby they are trying to conceive, enjoyed a significant amount of success.
According to Dr. Shettles, the timing is the most important thing when it comes to controlling what the gender of your baby will be. Â And this method is especially true if you are using gender selection conception to ensure yourselves of a boy.
It turns out that you can increase your chances of having a boy by having intercourse as close as possible to ovulation.
How it is possible? And why it is working so good?
The explanation is quite simple – among the two sperm types available in the human body, the sperm type being able to produce a male gender is the faster one and more likely reaches the egg first.
So, to make sure you conceive your son, intercourse should happen during the times of peak fertile mucus, but not more than 12 hours prior to ovulation. Charting can help you monitor your ovulation and notice a temperature drop, so you should have intercourse then or the next morning.
If you wish to use gender selection conception to create a baby girl, you should have intercourse 2 – 4 days before you ovulate. It turns out that the female sperm survive much longer than the male sperm, and allows more of the female sperm to reach the egg.
IMPORTANT: Do not have intercourse during your peak fertile mucus times.
Dr. Shettles method has been a bit less successful when it comes in conceiving girls. It is that important to you and want to have a daughter, you might want to consider other methods also.
- When you are using gender selection conception and if you are trying having a baby boy, you should avoid intercourse for 4 – 5 days before ovulation. If you do have intercourse earlier than that, be sure to use a condom.
- When you want to conceive a baby girl, it is recommended to start daily intercourse at the end of your period until 2 – 4 days before you ovulate. You should refrain from intercourse, or use condoms for 2 – 3 days following ovulation.
It’s interesting enough to mention that there are other factors involved in gender selection conception, such as sexual positions and whether or not women need to reach an orgasm.
For man is recommended to wear boxers rather than briefs, to sure their scrotal temperature is cooler. Indulging in a few cups of hot coffee before intercourse can increase the chances for a boy.
However, the Shettles method isn’t 100% scientific method to control a baby gender and it may or may not work for you.
IMPORTANT: It’s recommended to consult your doctor first if you have a questions as to what may help you achieve success in conceiving the boy or girl that you want.
