There is nothing unusual in having twins… When having a genetic disposition it’s quite common in many families though.

However, not so with multiple babies… Having multiple babies can be the result of the fertility treatments that mother is receiving or it is especially common when the mother has opted for in Vetro fertilization or IVF.

Her eggs and her partner’s sperm have been joined together in a lab — to be fertilized.

Fertilized embryo is placed into mother’s uterus to grow. To increase chances of successful pregnancy the process includes placing more than one viable embryo in the uterus. It happens that more then one embryo survive and as a result triplet pregnancies or even more babies at once could be expected.

Maybe it doesn’t sound too difficult, however, carrying of many babies at once can prove to be a strain physically for the mother. As babies grow and gain weight inside the mother it become even more difficult to her carry them.
